Giving Back to Our Community

Since 1931

Who We Are

Members of the Navan WI enjoy friendship and support as we contribute to improving the quality of life within our local community and in the larger world in which we live. Formed in Navan in 1931, and connected to both national and international WI’s, this welcoming and friendly group takes part in a wide range of community activities and raises funds for various needs — particularly those involving women.

Tony & Duke - In Fine Form, In The Heart of Navan. Proud Leads of The Navan 50 Horse Hitch.

In 1995, fifty Clydesdale horses were hitched together to honor the 50th anniversary of the Navan Fair.
The hitch was driven for 3 kms through the streets of Navan and achieved the Guinness World Record.
This statue of the lead horses stands in front of the Navan Memorial Center and Arena. We are thrilled to participate in and donate to the fair regularly.

What We Do

We are proud to make a difference in our community through sponsoring many activities and events. We donate regularly to the Navan Fair and the Orleans Cumberland Resource Centre (OCRC). Based on the needs of the community, we have contributed to many worthy causes, including the Outcare Foundation; a number of women’s shelters; programs at Heritage School, including support for the music program and the band, and support for the breakfast program; and support for community families going through difficult times.

Come Join Us And Make A Difference!

Our Mission Statement

As members of the Navan WI our goal is to be large in thoughts, words, and deeds. We will strive to avoid fault-finding in others, facing each other without prejudice or judgment, and always being generous with our thoughts and actions. We will provide opportunities to educate ourselves and our community on issues of interest to us all. We will remember that it is little things that create differences and that in the big things of life we are one. We will aspire to become calm, serene, gentle, and kind as we endeavour to touch and know the great human heart common to us all.

What People Say

Being a member of the Navan Women’s Institute gave me the opportunity to give back to my community. At the same time I have enjoyed the fellowship of a wide, diverse group of members that I now consider close friends.

Sue_Woram

The Navan WI ladies are among the best group of ladies I have ever come across. They are some of my favourite people to see come into my business in Navan and I have formed lifelong friendships with most of them. They are fun, sweet, caring, and hilarious!

Country Perks

The WI was an important part of my mother’s life. She formed many lasting friendships through the WI’s of this area and across the province. WI was an outlet for her leadership abilities; and she enjoyed the camaraderie of working, learning, and socializing with women of all ages. She would be thrilled to see the Navan WI growing and thriving as it is.
