Giving Back to The Community, December 2011

Christmas came early in December for the Navan Nursery School with the presentation of a cheque for $500 by the Navan Women’s Institute. The Women’s Institute was able to bestow this gift from proceeds of its 150th Anniversary Heritage Cookbook sales.

Virginia Lowe, Director/Teacher, and Kim Allaston, program assistant, indicated that the donation will be used to enhance the Nursery School’s music program. “Music teaches children about movement, listening, following directions, and helps to make learning language easy and fun. We are delighted to receive this help from the Women’s Institute.”

The presentation was made at the Nursery School’s Christmas Party on December 23rd. Also in attendance for the presentation was Don Murray of The New Oak Tree. Navan WI President Pam O’Donoughue conveyed sincere thanks to The New Oak Tree for its sponsorship of the printing costs of the cookbook. “It was this sponsorship that has allowed the W.I. to continue giving back to the wonderful community of Navan. We are thrilled to be able to support the Navan Nursery School.”

The Navan Nursery School will be the recipient of a second gift in January, when new blinds for the school’s windows will be installed. The blinds are a gift funded by both the Navan WI and the Fair Board.
