The ladies of the Navan Women’s Institute were honoured to sponsor a Public Speaking Competition at Heritage Public School on Thursday, April 30. Grade 7 and 8 students worked very hard on researching, writing and memorizing their speeches. From that group, eight students were chosen to present their speeches in the gym in front of other students and the judges. The first-place winner was Jess who created a smart, informative and witty speech on “The Art of Animal Communication.” Alex came in second with a description of “The Amazon Rainforest” which brought it to life for us. And Jonah was third with a well-written argument on the thesis that “Humans Should Focus more on Ocean Exploration than Space Exploration.” All the speeches were amazing, and it was a pleasure to be part of the Heritage community for this competition.
